The walk from Middlewick to Glastonbury is just 1.5km
We have plenty of walks right here on our doorstep and whether you are looking for a gentle stroll, an energetic yomp, a walk with a clear destination in mind or an amble down unexplored lanes looking to see where your feet take you as long as you have a pair of comfy walking shoes you’ll find something to suit you.

Glastonbury High Street is like no other town centre in the UK filled with independent shops selling quirky clothes, gifts, crystals, alchemy, myth and magic. Whether you are shopping or just browsing a visit to this most unusual high street is a must when you visit Glastonbury.

Leave Middlewick through the stile in the car park next to the farm shop.

This takes you through the orchards. A riot of apple blossom in spring and summer, heavy with fruit in autumn and adorned with mistletoe during the winter months.

Follow the footpath through neighbouring Paddington Farm and take a look at the classroom as you pass. The walk takes you up a slight hill with houses on your left and amazing views across Somerset to your right.

You can follow the road around to the left and then down the hill to the right, or take the short cut across the field if it’s not too muddy or you are feeling intrepid. Either way you will arrive at this bench.

On the return trip we pause for a moment here every time.

From here it’s downhill all the way to town (which explains our pausing on the way back up!).

Glastonbury High Street is very dog friendly. Many shops, cafes, and pubs welcome you and your four-legged friend. Sit in a cafe and watch the Glastonbury people go by, soak up the atmosphere and incense, or shop for crystal balls and tie-dye clothing. It’s only a short walk on from the High Street to St John’s Church, Glastonbury Abbey, or the Chalice Well. If you are planning on staying out after dark don’t forget to bring a torch for your return trip.
