Glastonbury Carnival Weekend – November 15th, 2025
Glastonbury Carnival is returning this year on Saturday the November of 15th 2025, and it promises to be another unforgettable evening of lights, music, and celebration.
If you’ve never experienced a Somerset Carnival before, this is the weekend to visit Glastonbury. Over 30,000 people flood into our little town for the Grand Finale of the Somerset Carnival Series. The incredible illuminated procession winds its way through the streets, and it truly is a spectacle not to miss.
The procession route & atmosphere
The carnival route winds down Glastonbury High Street, past the cafés, pubs, and restaurants. The atmosphere is absolutely electric, with the town buzzing from early afternoon through to late evening. Best of all? The whole parade is completely free to attend.
Make it a Carnival weekend
For the full Carnival experience, consider doing a double-header: the Wells Carnival takes place the night before on Friday the 14th of November. I often go to both. Friday in Wells lets me focus on the floats and soak up the show, while Saturday in Glastonbury becomes more of a social evening – seeing friends, grabbing food, and joining in the party atmosphere.
Seeing it twice really gives you the chance to spot new details – every float is packed with clever designs and moving parts you might miss the first time.
Don’t miss the floats parked up during the day
Here’s a bonus for staying local: after the Friday night procession, many of the Carnival floats (also known as “carts”) park up along the A39 ring road, just a short walk from Middlewick. It’s a glowing trail of light as they make their way back for their Saturday night appearance.
On Saturday during the day, you can walk along the closed section of the A39 and get a close-up look at the floats before they light up again for the night. This is when you can really appreciate the intricate details, artistry, and engineering that goes into each one.
