Celebrating Imbolc at Middlewick: seasonal food, story & the Wheel of the Year
Imbolc is celebrated in the Pagan calendar, The Wheel of the Year, and is one of Eight Sabbats. Imbolc literally means “in the belly” and refers to the growth of new life in the womb. This Sabbat honours the first signs of new life following the Winter Solstice. This day also honours Brigid, an Irish goddess of fire and fertility. It is the day halfway between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, signalling the end of the dark days and the beginning of longer days. The ground is rumbling and the flowers start to bloom.
Our lives, our land, and our tables are shaped by the seasons – and one of the greatest joys for me is marking those moments by gathering people together around good food. That is why I am delighted to invite you to join us on Saturday 31st January 2026 for our Imbolc Dinner, a very special evening celebrating the quiet magic of the turning year.
Imbolc Dinner
Saturday 31st January 2026
Imbolc is a festival of new beginnings, early stirrings, fire, and hope. The days are lengthening, the land is waking, and although winter still holds us, the promise of spring can be felt.
At Middlewick, just outside Glastonbury, we honour this moment not with grand gestures, but with warmth, candlelight, and nourishment – exactly as it has been done for generations.
Seasonal food inspired by the land
Our Imbolc pop-up supper is created with great care by Chef Elliott Leigh, whose menus are rooted in seasonal food and a deep respect for the ingredients. Each dish on the evening menu reflects the spirit of Imbolc – simple, thoughtful, and full of quiet depth.
This is food for people who love food, for lovers of seasonal eating, and for anyone who enjoys a table where conversation flows as easily as the wine.
Menu options:
- 2 courses — £33
- 3 courses — £38
Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options are always available.
