One of the things our regulars love most about Middlewick Café in Glastonbury is that our menu never stands still. It changes with the seasons, the weather, and whatever is tasting best right now, because so much of what we serve is sourced locally from Somerset farms, or grown just beyond our gates.
If you’re curious about what makes our food feel so fresh, comforting and distinctly Somerset, here’s a local’s guide to the ingredients, producers and people behind Middlewick Café’s seasonal menu.
From the Middlewick Garden to Café
Some of the freshest ingredients on our menu travel only a few minutes from our own vegetable patches to the kitchen.
Our produce is picked daily from The Middlewick Garden, set within the gardens of our holiday cottages. The land here has been farmed since at least the 17th century, originally as a dairy and sheep farm. Today, it’s a place where heritage meets hospitality, welcoming thousands of guests each year, and still producing seasonal vegetables that shape our menu.
When you see vibrant salads, fresh herbs or seasonal veg on your plate, chances are they were growing here just hours earlier.

Our neighbours at Paddington Farm
Just next door, Paddington Farm is a 43-acre organic farm with a big heart. Run with the help of a dedicated team of volunteers, the farm offers educational and recreational experiences, particularly for young people and families from disadvantaged urban backgrounds.
Their commitment to organic farming and community wellbeing aligns beautifully with our own values, and we’re proud to support their work through the ingredients we use and the stories we share.

Whites of Wick local beef with a long history
A short drive from Middlewick, Whites of Wick has been farming at Wick Farm in Glastonbury since 1918. Across 280 acres, the White family raise a herd of 90 Aberdeen Angus suckler cows, fed entirely on homegrown grass and forage, and always soya-free.
The result? Beef that’s full of flavour, responsibly raised, and rooted in generations of local farming knowledge. When it appears on our menu, it’s there for a reason.
Quality Meat from Home Farm, Kingweston
Home Farm, based in the Somerset village of Kingweston, has been family-run for over 100 years. They supply top-quality meats to local butchers, restaurants, cafés and pubs, and we’re proud to be among them. Their long-standing reputation for consistency and care means we can serve dishes that are simple, honest and deeply satisfying.
A taste of Summer with Cheddar strawberries
When strawberries arrive on our menu, you know summer isn’t far behind. Since the 1800s, Cheddar has been famous for its strawberries (alongside its cheese, of course). Grown on the south-facing slopes of the Mendip Hills, these berries are sweet, sun-ripened and unmistakably Somerset. Whether folded into desserts or enjoyed simply, they’re one of the season’s true highlights.
Bread worth waiting for from Lievito Bakery
While most of us are asleep, the bakers at Lievito Bakery are hard at work in Castle Cary. Their artisan breads and pastries are baked through the night, then delivered fresh across Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, and right here to Middlewick. That’s why our toast, sandwiches and pastries taste the way they do, carefully crafted and always fresh.
Local cheese with character from Wookey Farm
For cheese lovers, Wookey Farm needs little introduction. This small, family-run dairy goat farm produces a range of soft goat’s cheeses from their herd of 100 goats. Their cheeses bring a distinctive, creamy character to our dishes, perfect for adding depth without overpowering the other flavours on the plate.
Something to drink, made beneath the Tor
No local menu would be complete without a good drink to match.
Founded in 2006, Glastonbury Ales is a craft microbrewery nestled beneath Glastonbury Tor. Drawing inspiration from the area’s unique energy, they produce award-winning craft beers, real ales and cider, all proudly local, and full of personality.
Seasonal, local, and always changing
Our seasonal menu is a reflection of the land, the people, and the time of year. It’s why you’ll always find something new to enjoy and why no two visits to Middlewick Café are quite the same.
So next time you sit down with us, take a moment to taste Somerset. It’s all around you.
