Here at The Middlewick, we are excited to announce that we will be taking part in The Somerset Food Trail Festival 2023, which celebrate the best, most sustainably produced local food. It’s the first of its kind: a countywide event focused specifically on our more nature-friendly farmers and artisan producers – the local food heroes who are leading the transition to a new era of regenerative, ‘agroecological’ farming, to cut emissions, restore wildlife and produce better, tastier, more nourishing food.
The Somerset Food Trail Festival runs for 17 days of specially curated, farm-to-fork events showcasing Somerset’s best, most sustainable producers, farms, shops, chefs and eateries – with art and music thrown in for good measure. This year’s theme is ‘feasts and tastings’ to get everyone trying our fantastic produce.
We pride ourselves on supporting locally businesses by using locally sourced food in the meals we cook in our Cafe and the produce that we sell in our Farm Shop, so we just knew that we just had to get involved in the challenge for this year, which is the ‘30-mile Feast Challenge‘ – this is where most of the ingredients have been sourced from a 30-mile radius right up our street (or down our lane should I say)!
During the Food Trail, we’ll be celebrating and supporting local producers by taking part in the 30-mile Feast challenge. Our team have put together a specialist menu for the food trial, which includes 2 and 3 courses. Every day between Fri 14 and Sun 30, we will have the 30 Mile Feast Menu, which you can view below, with both a meat and a vegan options available.
